9-Year-Old Bass Prodigy Covers Led Zeppelin’s ‘The Ocean’: Since the rise of social media, child prodigies who can give any instrument virtuoso a run for their money became a dime a dozen, but the ones that also infuse soul into their playing style are a much more precious breed.

Such is the case of 9-year-old bassist Ellen Alaverdyan, who recently recorded her first live collaboration at The Tone Factory studio in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The young bassist was visiting the School of Rock last year when she met singer Eva and guitarist Mateo, as well as a drummer Yoyoka who flew from Japan around the same time.The group hit it off and decided to record a version together, with Led Zeppelin’s “The Ocean” being the chosen one, recorded in one take with only additional guitars and backing vocals thrown in afterward.
